Privacy Policy


Fabled Learning seeks to ensure the protection of the privacy of students attending the Hoosac Valley Public Schools in a manner consistent with the Federal Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and Massachusetts student record regulations.

Fabled Learning uses the Open Source Moodle Software, but does so in a closed environment only accessible to students, parents, and faculty of the Hoosac Valley Public Schools using our secure Google Accounts.

What is collected?
We collect the data that you provide when creating an account, such as name and email. We also collect data about your activity on the site, including any contributions that you make. All contributions must be in compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy of the Hoosac Valley Public Schools.


How is this information used?
This information is only used to provide access to the online courses on this site. It is not shared with any other sites or entities.


How long is my data stored?
Your personal data is stored as long as your account is active on this site. 


Can I request access to my data stored on this site?
Yes, Any user can send a message to nfahey@hoosacvalley.org. If the user has requested a copy of all of their personal data, once the request is approved, they will receive a notification to inform them that their personal data may be downloaded from their Data requests page. If the user has requested that their personal data should be deleted, once the request is approved, they will receive an email to inform them and they will no longer be able to log in to the site. 


Cookies
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer for record-keeping purposes. Session cookies expire and are removed from your hard drive when you close your web browser. Persistent cookies remain on your hard drive for extended periods of time. We use both session and persistent cookies on this site. No personal data is stored in any cookie nor is it shared with any third party. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. You can delete cookies at any time by clearing your browsing data 


Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account with that website and are logged in to that website, for example with Google. IMPORTANT NOTE: Students can only log into embedded sites with their school GMail accounts. AND only if those sites have been pre-approved by the district, otherwise they cannot access them.
